Mark Hirschhorn – Amwell CFO
Mark Hirschhorn is a senior executive with decades of experience as an executive vice president, chief financial officer, and chief executive officer. He has managed over 50 acquisitions in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia and has directed finance, treasury, and investor relations for four multinational public companies.
Since October 2024, Mark Hirschhorn has served as CFO of Amwell, a leading hybrid care delivery enablement platform. He is focused on strategic capital allocation, enterprise-wide optimization, and other strategic initiatives to increase shareholder value.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Mark Hirschhorn earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government as well as an MBA in accounting from the school. He began his career as a senior manager at Deloitte and spent nine years with the international public accounting tax and consulting firm, managing audits for major clients like Chanel and Mitsubishi and participated in several due diligence activities both domestically and abroad. He subsequently spent four years as vice president and global controller at RSL Communications, Ltd., and later served as CFO at BT Radianz, Ltd.
Hirschhorn joined RCS/Media Monitors in 2004 and orchestrated the sale of the company to iHeartRadio in 2006. He spent eight years with the multinational software and services company. In addition to oversight of all financial, human resources, legal, and IT operations, he managed the roll-out of more than 350 Media Monitors US operations.
In 2012, Hirschhorn joined Teladoc Health as its CFO (and in 2017 was also appointed COO) following its Series D funding. Teladoc was generating under $10 million in revenues at the time Hirschhorn joined. Over the next 2 years Hirschhorn led the finance and business development activities of the company. In 2015, he identified and subsequently acquired the startup Betterhelp, now the nation’s leading virtual behavioral health company generating over $1 billion in annual revenue. He spearheaded Teladoc’s 2015 IPO as well.
Later, Hirschhorn joined the pharmacovigilance SaaS company ArisGlobal as CFO. He managed a private placement of nearly $300 million in debt prior to the company's $800 million sale to Nordic Capital.
In 2020, Hirschhorn joined Talkspace as its president, COO, and CFO. Hirschhorn was tasked with creating an enterprise division that grew from $1m to over $50m in ARR in 18 months. He also directed the company’s public debut in June 2021. The following year, he became the CEO of TapestryHealth, a digital healthcare provider for post-acute care facilities. He helped scale the company through an expansion and diversification of business operations with added emphasis on in-home care. He left TapestryHealth in 2024 for his present position as CFO of Amwell.
Complementing more than 35 years of financial and business operations leadership, Mark Hirschhorn is especially well versed in areas such as strategic planning, business strategy, process improvement, and contract negotiation. He was named Best CFO of a Small Cap Healthcare Company by Institutional Investor in 2017.
